The MC77 employs Field Effect Transistor (FET) technology for gain reduction allowing for large amounts of limiting without introducing severe distortion. From there, impeccable high-performance components were used to match the unit to the original, while adding modern features to its all-discrete signal path. It all started with an exacting recreation of the “E” revision of one of the most iconic solid-state limiting amplifiers of all time.
